Emperor Alexander IV abdicates, succeeded by Ivan VII

HARLEMUM – Today at 09:59 hours, His Imperial Majesty Alexander IV Feofanovych abdicated the Pavlovian throne via Instrument of Abdication. Shortly after church bells tolled across the Empire as His Imperial Highness Tsersarevych Erik Aleksandrovych assumed the Imperial Throne of Pavlov as His Imperial Majesty Ivan VII Aleksandrovych.

Emperor Ivan VII, may the Almighty God bless his reign, in recognition of his ascension to the Imperial Throne of Pavlov, issued several proclamations, including the granting of the Peerage of Duke of Thrace to Alexander and setting out a decree granting the former Emperor and Empress the Style of Imperial Highness. His Imperial Majesty further dissolved the Regency Council and appointed all of its members as Privy Councilors.

His Imperial Majesty further confirmed all of the current Pavlovian Officials and Ministers in their current positions and has asked the Patriarch of the Pavlovian Orthodox Church, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Filaret III to prepare for an official coronation ceremony later in the year.

His Imperial Majesty was also pleased to lavish praise on the former Emperor, stating "It is my great honor to occupy the Imperial Throne of Pavlov, HIM Alexander IV ruled for ten years over one of the greatest and most enduring nations ever. His vision and his dedication to the Empire of Pavlov will not be forgotten and we wish both Alexander and Mariia a long and happy life."

As the news reached the allies of the Empire, President Yaroslav Mar of the Federal Republic of Lostisland released a statement in which he thanked the former Emperor for his commitment to strengthening the Pavlovian-Lostislandic friendship and congratulated Emperor Ivan VII on ascending to the throne.

The founder of Pavlov, Emperor Alexander IV ruled the nation for ten years from 2012 to 2022 throughout its various iterations: Pavlov, Snežanopol, and Montescano. Emperor Ivan VII, born Harold Erik FitzHarold DeWhyte, was born on 28 February 1967 (according to the calendar of the heretics) at Ballard General Hospital in Seattle, Washington. He was the first child of Nina, Viscountess White, and Harold Clarence FitzLewis DeWhyte, Viscount White of the House of the Dragon, and the first grandchild of H.H Melvin I, 16th Duke of Ozenne. From birth, Erik held the title Baron of Sarthe of the House of the Dragon. On 18 March 2000, he married Queen Cherie of Dor-Amarth, the current Empress of Pavlov in Seattle, Washington. The Imperial couple has two sons.

Emperor Ivan VII is a holder of various Pavlovian and foreign awards, titles, and ranks, including the Order of the Flat Earth, the Barony of Forrester (Westarctica), the Duchy of Southmoor (Ladonia), the Royal Order of the Lion (Ruritania), Hero and Admiral of Molossia. In 2021, the future Emperor was recognized as a member of the Pavlovian Imperial Family and heir to the throne.
